The author of the beloved devotional, My Utmost for His Highest, Chambers is a giant of the faith.

Originally he thought he would be an artist, but later felt a different calling. He then went to college where he experienced severe depression, which he struggled to overcome.

After beating his anxiety, his witness of overcoming the dark night of the soul inspired countless people who saw his newfound faith and sought his secret to living with passion.

Chambers then knew his true calling. As speaking engagements flooded in, he became an evangelist, sharing about living a life of victory. When asked how he beat depression, he offered two pieces of advice, principles anyone can apply to become more spiritual healthy.

First, “Live aggressively for God.” No more playing church and practicing a part-time spirituality, but rather dig in and do the hard work and go after God by praying more, studying more, and living more in line with scripture and holiness.

Secondly he shared, “The great word of Jesus to his disciples is abandon. When God has brought us into the relationship of disciples, we have to venture on his word; trust entirely to him and watch that when he brings us to the venture, we take it.”

Abandon excuses, abandon low standards, abandon sin and selfishness, and reach out and grab hold of the promises of God, and then live your utmost for His highest!
