Living With Real Courage

Success coach and bestselling author Brian Tracy shares about 4 men who became millionaires in their 30s. As he notes, they each had over a dozen businesses they were involved in before they found one that matched who they were and helped them make their fortunes. Where others gave up, they kept pushing until they found what worked for them, realizing there truly is no such thing as failure as long as we learn something from the process and keep going.

The late Jim Rohn, who literally helped millions of people find purpose for their lives, shared that what turned his life around was an abusive father. One night in particular left him marked with pain. He asked his dad for money to go to a concert. His father laughed at the idea and told him, “If you want to go to that stupid concert then you have to beg me for the money.”

Rohn then determined to live his life serving others and helping them find strength to believe in themselves so they could reach their deepest dreams. Each of the men above found courage to move towards their goals in spite of the obstacles or critics.

So what is true courage? Chief Tecumseh (1768–1813) wisely shared;

“So live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart. Trouble no one about their religion; respect others in their view, and demand that they respect yours. Love your life, perfect your life, beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and its purpose in the service of your people. Prepare a noble death song for the day when you go over the great divide.

“Always give a word or a sign of salute when meeting or passing a friend, even a stranger, when in a lonely place. Show respect to all people and grovel to none.

“When you arise in the morning give thanks for the food and for the joy of living. If you see no reason for giving thanks, the fault lies only in yourself. Abuse no one and no thing, for abuse turns the wise ones to fools and robs the spirit of its vision.

“When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.”
